The care provided to you when you choose Mary Free Bed

Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation This morning I had my 3+ hour appointment at Mary Free Bed, a local one that we have here in Michigan.  I went in already not feeling the greatest, but it was better than my “normal day” so I decided to give it my all.  The first hour of my appointment is usually an Occupational Therapist consult. I work with my legs mostly because they are weak. Throughout all the workouts I got really sick, the FLARE went from a 3 to a 10 on the pain scale in a matter of seconds. Let’s just say I freaked my therapist out quite a bit, she wasn’t…

    Spring Cleaning begins

(This post contains affiliate links, please see disclosure policy for more info) Spring Cleaning!!! Can you believe it?! Today is finally the first day of spring, although we have a beautiful sun out here in Michigan it is still a little chilly. Perfect weather for some of us though. With the first day of spring here, you know what that means?? Spring cleaning… Although if you are anything like me you absolutely hate cleaning because bending down, or even being on your feet too long becomes a week or two bedridden.  So today I wanted to show you a few easy steps and cleaning products that I use that help…

DIY gift with a heart felt meaning

(This post contains affiliate links, please see disclosure policy for more information) This past week my mom was gone to go get my sister (Kristina) and bring her back from England. She was there making a difference in the world with Youth With A Mission (YWAM).  While they were gone I wanted to do something special, something that let them both know that I missed them very much but also to let them know they were coming home to my dad as well… Back in 2014, we lost my father to a brain hemorrhage, it happened very suddenly and without warning and brought us through some trials during and after.…

    Becoming a donor

In December of 2014, my family and I went through a tragic time in our lives, it changed us in ways we could never imagine. My father was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance and we all raced there right after him.  I can still remember to this day the phone call I got from my mom, “Kayla (her voice was very unsteady and she was freaking out), you need to go to the hospital right now! Something happened to your dad and he isn’t doing good at all.” I could hear the panic in my voice when I told my fiance now husband that we need to leave…

What to expect with an esophageal manometry

Hello everyone! Happy Friday, it’s finally time to say TGIF. I don’t know about anyone else? But this week for me has been extremely exhausting and I am so glad that it is over. Yesterday I had to go to one of the bigger Universities we have here in Michigan for two procedures. The first procedure is the one that I want to talk to you guys about. This one was horrible, to say the least, I wanted the tech to stop before she even got started. Have anyone of you ever had an esophageal manometry done? Well if you haven’t and you want to know what it keeps reading.…

    Conversation Time

Here we go again, the intense ringing in my ears, that muffled sound of peoples voices. In a complete brain fog, like my brain is misfiring. I am there having another conversation with someone, but I cant hear them. I see their lips moving, but the sound of their voice is muffled, then suddenly the ringing gets more intense and that’s when a headache starts. I just keep smiling and nodding so they don’t think I am being rude because I am trying not to focus on everything that is happening to me at that very moment. Just hoping they aren’t asking me a question because I have no ideas…
